Hospital executive board hears reports, updates

St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary executive board met Feb. 28 and heard various reports during the regular monthly meeting.

President Judy Reno presided.

Treasurer Eileen Sieger reported good profits from the auxiliary shoppe for the first two months of operation. This is an ongoing fund-raising project to benefit the hospital.

Emmett Schuster, interim CEO for the hospital, applauded efforts of the auxiliary in the operation of the store.

Schuster said the new CT scanner is in operation. The scanner has software which allows 3-D images to be stored on CDs. This will allow for easy transport to another health care provider. An open house will be scheduled soon.

A Quorum consultant has been here to provide an overview of Marion County Home Care.

An individual contractor will be at the hospital the end of the month to review all hospital departments as part of a "mock" survey.

Linda Kannady, CNO, reported Dr. Cranston continues to do procedures at St. Luke Hospital on Wednesdays and some Fridays.

Debbie Craig of St. Luke Living Center gave an update. She said there still is a need for a vehicle to transport residents. She reported staff member Donna Kukuk now has received her LPN degree.

Penny Marler reported auxiliary membership stands at 83 with 64 being lifetime members.

Janice Case said volunteer hours were 1,012 for January and 459 for February.

Reno said the hospital campus is scheduled May 1 to become a smoke-free facility.

There are two positions up for election on the hospital board. These positions will be filled May 23 at the annual meeting.

The scholarship committee has met to review and revise the application and selection forms.

Reno reported the committee planning for the Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas (HAK) district meeting has met and continues to plan for the May 1 meeting, which will be held at Marion County Lake hall.

The next board meeting will be held March 28.
