How do you want Marion to be perceived?

There are a lot of people who feel very strongly about Marion, its businesses, its politics, its people, and its economy. That can be clearly seen in the words written in the Marion County Record.
My perception is that most of those people feel so strongly because they only want what they believe is best for Marion. However, there is a big difference between spirited debate or respectful descent and the "bomb throwing" that most often happens in the Your Turn section.
We need to think about the kind of perception this gives to the individuals, families, and businesses who are considering moving to Marion. The Marion County Record is available online, and people are doing their research. I know I did before I came, and I had several concerns, all stemming from information I got at the Marion County Record website.
I am a firm believer in the freedom of speech. Unfortunately, though, our speech is not reflecting very positively on our town or community. How many people have overlooked the great opportunities in Marion because of the "bad taste" left by our own comments?
