Individual arrested for assault at Hillsboro home

Hillsboro Police Officers arrested a suspect Jan. 1, after an assault incident occurred at a Hillsboro residence.

Jan. 1: An emergency medical services crew received assistance with a call at Hillsboro Community Medical Center. A gas skip was investigated in the 300 block of North Ash Street, Hillsboro. Assistance was provided to Hillsboro Fire Department with a fire at HCMC.

Monday: Samuel Espada, 18, Hillsboro, was arrested and booked in the Marion County Jail after assaulting a victim at a Hillsboro residence; friends of the victim assisted by holding the suspect until officers arrived. An owner received assistance when keys were locked in a vehicle. A suspicious vehicle was checked in the 900 block of East D Street.

Tuesday: A Hillsboro resident reported someone had entered his residence and removed a Durabilt screwdriver kit and Samsung DVD player; there were no signs of forced entry and the loss was valued at $225. A sheriff's deputy received assistance with a reckless driver. Assistance was provided to a sheriff's deputy with a suspicious vehicle on U.S.-56.

Wednesday: EMS received assistance with a call in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A victim reported someone had altered a personal check to be worth more than its original value after it was given to a local business as payment; total loss was $20. A second victim also reported an altered check for a loss of $10; a suspect has been identified in both incidents and the cases remain under investigation. A subject was arrested in the 500 block of East D Street on a local warrant. A suspicious vehicle was checked in the 300 block of North Ash Street.

Thursday: Assistance was provided to an EMS crew in the 300 block of South Main Street. Officers responded to three separate business alarms in Hillsboro Heights that were triggered. A subject was assisted regarding a civil dispute. Assistance was provided to Chanute Police Department regarding an investigation. Three Hillsboro juveniles were investigated for making threats to each other. A civil standby was provided in the 100 block of North Cedar Street. Suspicious activity was checked in the 200 block of South Birch Street.

Friday: A city civil process was served. Peabody Police Department received assistance with an invesigation.
