Ira Frank Johnson

Ira Frank Johnson, 79, died Nov. 11, 2007, at Golden Living Center of Chase County, Cottonwood Falls.

The son of Ira Earl and Lucille (Richards) Johnson, he was born Feb. 6, 1928, in Chase County.

On July 12, 1953, he married Patsy Archer at Cottonwood Falls.

He was a retired U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Army for more than 20 years. He worked for the Chase County Road and Bridge Department as a road grader and was employed as a contract mail carrier.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucille Macom.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy of Matfield Green; son, Cecil Johnson of Matfield Green; sister, Inez Irene Buckley of Pueblo, Colo.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Matfield Community Church, Matfield Green, with Pastor Jim Bartsch officiating.

Burial will be in Matfield Green Cemetery with military honors by a Fort Riley honor guard.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
