It's personal

We hear reports and see pictures on the nightly news — another soldier injured or killed in the war against terrorism. In fact, we've heard and seen so much, we've become desensitized.

When news came this past week that one of Marion County's own, Spec. Molly Holub, had been injured in Iraq, we were stunned.

Oh sure, we've known Marion County soldiers who are stationed in Iraq. We've known there was a possibility one of them could get hurt. But it's always been one of those "it won't happen to us" situations.

Now, it has happened and it has brought the war a little closer to home for all of us.

Now, it's personal.

Molly has a long road of recovery ahead of her. She'll need the support of family and friends. She'll need our prayers and words of encouragement.

She's lucky she's from Marion. We have a history of pulling together in the face of adversity or tragedy. This time will be no exception.

As you're out and about this weekend, remember Molly and her family. Stop in and sign one of the big get-well cards. Drop a few dollars in one of the donation cans. Say a prayer.

She's been fighting to preserve our freedom. Now, she needs us. Let's do something for her.
