Jacob Wambsganss

Jacob Roy "Dr. Jake" Wambsganss, 56, of rural Fordville, N.D., and formerly of rural Elmdale, died Feb. 28, 2007.

Born Nov. 9, 1950, at Hillsboro, he was the son of Eldor Jacob and Maxine (Wait) Wambsganss.

He attended college at Wichita State University for his undergraduate degree in accounting, Emporia State University for his MBA, and the University of Nebraska for his Ph.D.

On May 22, 1971, he married Dona Koby at Bentley.

He worked at the University of North Dakota for 15 years and during that time was a full professor, MBA director, and master of accountancy director. In addition to many articles, he recently published a book, "Management Accounting for Effective Decision Making."

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Dona of Fordville, N.D.; two sons, Warren Wambsganss of VanHorne, Iowa, and Jay Wambsganss of Grand Forks, N.D.; his mother, Maxine Wambsganss of Silver City, Iowa; and a sister, Tilda Wambsganss of Silver City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon on the campus of the University of North Dakota.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor David Parks and Deacon Dennis Koch officiating.

Burial will be in Elk Cemetery, west of Elmdale.

A Jake Wambsganss Scholarship Fund has been established for memorial contributions.
