James Ronsick

James Edwin Ronsick, 85, died Feb. 6, 2008, at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.

Born Feb. 4, 1923, at Iola, he was the son of Edwin and Lillie Fern (Latham) Ronsick.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

On Aug. 21, 1945, he married Norma Wilkerson at Albuquerque, N.M.

He was a farmer/rancher in the Elk community in northwest Chase County for 45 years. After his retirement, the couple moved to Emporia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Katharine May Ronsick and Betty Ann Kent; and a great-grandson, Benjamin Twyman.

Survivors include his wife, Norma of Emporia; son, Gene Ronsick of Overland Park; two daughters, Virginia Taylor of Lenexa and Barbara Sipes of Overland Park; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia, with Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier officiating.

Burial with full military honors was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
