Jim and Gayle Francis to celebrate 50th anniversary years ago

Thomas "Jim" and Gayle Francis of rural Salina will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 4, with a reception and open house at St. Mary's Parish Hall, 230 E. Cloud, Salina.

Jim Francis and Gayle Pilcher were married Nov. 6, 1956, in Norcatur.

The couple lived in Marion from 1970 to 1978.

While here, Jim was superintendent at Kansas Department of Transportation. He retired in 1996 from the Salina KDOT office.

Gayle worked at Marion City Library. Later she worked in a library for USD #408. She also worked for Prudential Insurance, Bennington State Bank, and the Bennington school district. Currently she is a homemaker.

Their children are Debbie Trimble of Bennington, Doug and Patty Francis of Salina, Devin and Debbie Francis of Wamego, and Dirk and Dedra Francis of Salina. They also have 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
