Jim Hoy s latest on Flint Hills is best yet

Dr. Jim Hoy is not only a professor of English at Emporia State University and a gifted writer, but also is an authority on Flint Hills cowboys, customs, and history.

The author grew up "ahorseback" in the Cassoday community where his family is of pioneer stock.

His 305-page hard-cover "Flint Hills Cowboys, Tales of the Tallgrass Prairie" is now available at bookstores, libraries, and online.

The series of essays and short stories presents material of interest to all, but more especially those with Marion, Chase, Butler, Lyon, and Greenwood county connections.

Those who have read Hoy's latest, applaud his effort and recommend the book to others.

The anthology of folklore includes a handy index, with names listed of all who appear in his "tales."

Many factual stories of the tallgrass prairie part of Kansas are recorded as the result of careful research and some myths are exposed.
