Members from at least 12 schools in the south central FFA district participated in a district speech career development event Saturday at Centre High School.

Three students from CHS participated in the senior division, and all three qualified for state competition. They were: Kristine Jirak, first, Nellie Hill, second, and Jackie Klenda, fourth.

Gloria Belton won the junior division, and Julie Rziha placed eighth.

Freshman Nathan Barney qualified for state by finishing fourth. Other freshmen included Konley Harding, sixth, James Weber, eighth, and Kacey Hanschu.

Sophomore competitors included Allie Will, sixth, Bryant Brunner, Andy Carlson, Nick Cole, and Christa Pretz.

Steven Hageberg finished eighth in job interview.
