Jirak, Gear are wed in June 11 ceremony at Pilsen years ago

Maria Jirak of Tampa and Travis Gear of Wichita were married at 3 p.m. June 11 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.

The bride is the daughter of Francis and Mary Jirak of Tampa. Parents of the groom are David and Michelle Gear of Wichita.

The bride's brother, the Rev. John Jirak, associate pastor of St. Mary's Cathedral, was the main celebrant at the double ring ceremony. Concelebrants included Fr. Steve Gronert, Fr. Eric Weldon, Fr. Patrick York, Fr. David Marstall, Fr. Andrew Heiman, Fr. Bernard Gorges, and Fr. Jarrod Lies.

Tom Nelson of Burdick was organist.

Vocalists included Carolyn Pirtle of Wichita, Heidi Jirak of Oakley, Susie, Janie, Cecilia, and Julie Rziha of Tampa, and the St. John Nep. Church choir.

Mark Jirak and Lucas Carlson were lectors.

Altar servers were Aaron Spexarth, Michael Armour, Jarrod Thome, Danny Dostert, Patrick Reilley, and Chad Arnold.

Escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a white gown with short sleeves and featured a scoop neck bodice and tulle over satin full skirt with a tiered split front. The hand-beaded re-embroidered lace-embellished gown featured a chapel-length train. The ensemble was completed with a fingertip veil with rhinestone and beaded tiara.

She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, peonies, and trumpet lilies.

Kristine Jirak of Tampa was the maid of honor. She wore a long claret-red satin gown with a chiffon overlay, wrap front, and hand beading. She carried red rose nosegays.

Bridesmaids were Teresa and Sandra Jirak of Goddard, Raschelle Jirak of Ramona, and Andrea Green of Wichita. They wore gowns identical to the maid of honor and carried identical flowers.

Monica Jirak of Goddard was the flower girl. Dominic Jirak of Goddard was the ring bearer.

Matthew Gear of Naples, Fla., served as best man. Groomsmen were Albert and James Jirak of Goddard, Noah Gear and Chris Jaax of Wichita.

Guests were seated by Andy Gorges, Dan Berry, Krister Johnson, and Brent Depperschmidt, all of Wichita; and Matthew Beaven and Paul Johnson of Kansas City.

Judy Seiler and Jane Gorges of Colwich were guest book attendants.

Kalynn Jirak of Atchison, Stephanie Quaney of Colwich, and Emma Rose Jirak of Oakley were in charge of gifts and programs.

A reception was held at Pilsen Community Center.

Reception attendants included Becky Dugan of Wichita, Donna Quaney and Lisa Quaney of Colwich, and Denice Bina of Marion.

The wedding cake was baked and decorated by Mary Jirak, the bride's mother.

The bride is a graduate of Centre High School. She attended Kansas State University and graduated from Xenon's School of Cosmetology and Hair Design. She is employed at Beauty First in Wichita.

Her husband is a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School, Wichita, and graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in history. He is a youth minister at Holy Name Catholic Church and School in Winfield.

Following a wedding trip to Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana, the couple lives in Winfield.
