Joanne Forsyth

Joanne Forsyth, 70, died Nov. 23, 2006, at Midland Hospice Center, Topeka.

Born July 28, 1936, at Lubbock, Texas, she was the daughter of J.C. and Florence Dean.

In 1956, she married the Rev. David Rackley. The couple had three children, Patricia, John, and Deana.

After David's death, Joanne married Kenneth Forsyth in 1971. They had one child, Matthew.

She studied organ at Texas Tech University and Southern Methodist University and completed her bachelor's of music degree at Wichita State University. She then completed her master's of music in organ performance at WSU.

She served as accompanist for many groups and most recently served as director of worship and music at First Baptist church, Wichita, from 1983-88 and Countryside United Methodist Church, Topeka, from 1991-2002.

Survivors include her husband, Ken of Topeka; four children, Patti, John, Deana, and Matt; seven grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Countryside United Methodist Church, Topeka.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Midland Hospice, Topeka; Countryside United Methodist Church, Topeka; or Valley United Methodist Church, Marion.
