John F. Reznicek
John F. Reznicek, 64, of Marion, died Jan. 16, 2008.
Born June 28, 1943, at Lost Springs, he was the eldest son of John C. and Irma (Holub) Reznicek.
He graduated from Centre High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for several years.
On June 1, 1968, he married Helen Olsen at St. John Nepomucene Church, Pilsen.
He earned degrees from Butler County Community College and Emporia State University. Following graduation, he was employed at the National Cooperative Refinery Association facility at McPherson, until he began working at Irv Schroeder County Motors in Hillsboro in 1976, where he remained until his death. He was a sales representative and formerly had been the general manager.
He was an active member of Holy Family Parish, the Fr. Kapaun Council of the Knights of Columbus, Quail Forever, and served as a board member for the Marion County Fair Association, Kansas State Fairs and Festivals Association, and Rural Water District #4.
He was preceded in death by his father, John; and two sisters, Elaine Stika and Marilyn Reznicek.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Marion; mother, Irma Reznicek of Marion; five brothers, Tom and Janet Reznicek of Lawrence, Ron and Verena Reznicek of Farmington, British Columbia, Canada, Ed and Mary Fund Reznicek of Goff, Ken and Deb Reznicek of Burlington, and Bob Reznicek of Lost Springs; three sisters, Carol and Bob Makovec of Ramona, Mary and Charlie Loewen of Hillsboro, and Lori and John Torline of Derby; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The rosary was recited Friday evening at Holy Family Parish, St. John Nep. Church, Pilsen.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday morning at the church.
Burial was in Marion Cemetery, Marion.
Memorial funds have been established with the Fr. Kapaun Guild or Quail Forever.
