John Schill

John Schill, 90, Newton, died Sept. 15, 2007, at Galachia Heart Hospital, Wichita.

Born March 13, 1927, at Newton, he was the son of Charles and Margaret (Clelland) Schill.

He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Leo, Paul, Alvin, Dick, and Raymond Schill; and three sisters, Ethel, Viola, and Dorothy Schill.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Schill of Paola and Pat Schill of Newton; four daughters, Susie Door of Council Grove, Yvonne Roland of Cedar Point, Judy Kerr of Wichita, and Mary Schill of Newton; brother, Bill Schill of Newton; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The rosary was recited Tuesday evening at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton.

Funeral services were Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newton, with the Revs. James Mainzer and Ken Schuckman officiating.

Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton.

Memorial funds have been established with the church, the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or Hospice Care of Kansas.
