John Strome
John Henry Strome, 88, of Herington, died March 7, 2006, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
Born Feb. 9, 1918, in rural Dickinson County, he was the son of John and Elizabeth (Biehler) Strome.
He was a former resident of Lost Springs.
He was a truck driver for Morrison Trucking and Graves Truck Line. Upon retirement from trucking, he was a welder for Anderson-Oxendale and then with Hamm Quarries.
His first wife, Rose, died in February 1959.
On Dec. 21, 1967, he married Audrey Core at Searcy, Ark. She died in 2003.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lewis, Lyle, and Everett Strome; and a sister, Estella Vessels.
Survivors include a brother, Clayton Strome of Herington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Penwell-Gabel Herington Chapel. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Memorial funds have been established with Hospice of Dickinson County or Kidney Dialysis Center of Junction City.
