Keep it positive

Having a way to express yourself is very satisfying. The Wichita Eagle has a column called Opinion Line and the Marion County Record has one called Your Turn. In a big city, few people would recognize the writers but in a small town the public can pretty well do that. The ones in the Wichita paper are sometimes very humorous, like: "No one needs to know my opinion." In a small town the writers could be more tactful or not mean as it could be hurtful. Few people write positive or complimentary suggestions.

Someone has written a book about one of Mark Twain's characters. Now I don't like that. That is Twain's character. Let the other writer get his own character. It is sort of like the sequel to "Gone With the Wind." It just seemed false and wasn't successful.

I am now reading a book about Queen Victoria. How do I describe it? It was written several years ago, very detailed and personal. There is a lot about the expenses of supporting all the palaces and style of life of the people.

With all our complaints of high taxes how would we like to support royalty? When I think of the money we pay members of Congress and others, maybe it is the same thing. Anyway, it's not the same people all the time.
