Kenneth Becker

Kenneth Duane Becker, 46, of Newton, died Jan. 30, 2007, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Born Feb. 9, 1960, at El Dorado, he was the son of Ivan and Roma (Lewis) Becker.

He served 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. After leaving the service, he became a police officer for 10 years, serving the cities of Ottawa, Goessel, and Chandler, Ariz. He later became a master carpenter, building new homes and remodeling others. He ended his career as a long-haul semi-truck driver.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Peabody.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Becker; and two brothers, Randal Becker and Vernon Becker.

Survivors include his wife, Sharyn (Bedlington) Becker of Newton; mother, Roma Becker of Hillsboro; four sons, Kirby Becker of Wichita, Patrick Becker of Emporia, Matthew Bedlington of Fort Worth, Texas, and Michael Bedlington of Chicago, Ill.; three daughters, Jessica Becker and Kelly Becker, both of Wichita and Marla Read of Italy; brother, Lee Becker of Lincolnville; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Peabody United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Ragland and Pastor Don Mashburn officiating.

Burial was in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

A memorial fund has been established with the Avenue of Flags, Peabody.
