KHP investigate two accidents

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers investigated two accidents that recently occurred in Marion County.

At 4 p.m. Sept. 7, Stacy L. Durst, 37, Morrowville, was driving a 2005 Jeep eastbound on U.S.-56 and attempted a left turn on to K-15, when the vehicle collided with a 1996 Chevrolet passenger car driven by Marcia K. Miller, 51, Canton, who was westbound on U.S.-56.

The Durst vehicle turned in front of the Miller vehicle, causing the vehicles to collide.

Both drivers and a passenger in the Durst vehicle, John Durst, 32, Morrowville, were transported by Marion County EMS to Hillsboro Community Medical Center and treated for injuries. All occupants were wearing seat belts.

At 11:50 a.m. Sunday, Michelle H. Pacha, 35, Wichita, was driving a 2000 Ford Windstar van southbound on K-15 when she attempted to "pick up something" and the vehicle went off the roadway to the west. The driver overcorrected which caused the vehicle to enter the east ditch and overturn.

The driver and two passengers, Kyle Pacha, 6, and Brady Pacha, 3, all of Wichita, were transported to Hillsboro Community Medical Center and treated for injuries. All occupants were properly restrained.

Vehicle taken

to Irving, Texas

At 2:30 p.m. Aug. 29 an individual took a 1999 Kia Sportage to Irving, Texas, without permission. The vehicle is registered to Arlene C. Castleman, 602 Cemetery Lane, Burns. Also in the vehicle was a Sanyo cell phone and digital camera. Property total of taken items is $8,120, reports Deputy Larry Starkey.

A driver was stopped by Undersheriff Randal Brazil at 12:20 a.m. Sept. 4 on U.S.-56/77 at milepost 321 for traveling 95 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone. Driver was arrested for driving under influence, transporting open container of alcohol, possession of alcohol by a minor, and consumption of alcohol by a minor.

At 8:49 a.m. Sept. 3 an individual called Jessica Vannocker of 1075 160th, Hillsboro and threatened to kill her, reports Undersheriff Brazil.
