Kingfisher Steakhouse closes its doors
Jim and Tina Novak, owners of Kingfisher Steakhouse and Lounge at Marion County Lake, have decided to sell their restaurant.
"I invested my heart and soul in the Kingfisher," Tina Novak said, "and people do not realize what spreading rumors does to a person or their family."
The restaurant had closed to the public several weeks ago which began speculation of it being open during Old Settlers' weekend for reunions.
"The Kingfisher's closing to me is like losing a dream," Tina Novak said, "and is emotionally and financially devastating.
"The simple fact is that we were not able to make it work. We gave it all we had and ended up short."
The couple appreciates the support it received.
"We want to thank Tampa State Bank and the investors," Tina Novak said. "We truly appreciated the support they gave us."
The couple hopes a buyer will be found and the business soon will reopen.
