Kline out of council race

In a close primary race for two seats on the Marion City Council, incumbent Jerry Kline was the candidate who received the fewest votes from Marion residents and will not move on to the general election.

Preliminary results indicated that Gerald Henderson received 155; Steven Smith, 145; Katherine DeFilippis, 143; incumbent Bill Holdeman, 141; and Kline, 131.

A total of 335 voters went to the polls and 34 cast advanced ballots for a total 369 voters.

Henderson, Smith, DeFilippis, and Holdeman will face off in the April 1 general election.

There were 530 voters in the April 2007 election.
