Kyle Palic medals at state wrestling meet

Marion Junior Warrior Wrestling Club enjoyed some success this past weekend at the USA-Kansas wrestling state competition.

The event, held at the Kansas Expo Center in Topeka, had more than 1,400 wrestlers aged eight to 16.

The Junior Warrior club sent four wrestlers: Kyle Palic, Colton Jeffrey, Evan Slater, and Zac Lewman.

While all four competed hard, Palic was the only one to bring home a medal after finishing fifth at 88 pounds in the eight-and-under group.

Lewman, eight-and-under 95-pounds, Jeffrey, 10-and-under 52-pounds, and Slater, 10-and-under 110-pounds, all represented the club well, and had successful seasons leading up to the tournament.

Girls' state

Three Junior Warrior wrestlers competed Feb. 27 at the fourth annual Kansas Girls' State Wrestling competition in Kanopolis.

All three girls brought home medals after the event.

Cheyenne Jeffrey took third in her class, Morgan Hiebert second, and Mattie Hiebert finished first.
