Lake residents attend monthly Chat and Dine dinner Saturday
Fifty Marion County Lake residents and guests attended the monthly Chat and Dine covered dish dinner Saturday evening in the south lake hall.
Guests included Kay Navrat, guest of Nadine and Delmar Iseli and Victoria, Kathy, and Rick Edwards, guests of Joyce and Richard Kellison.
Before the dinner and as part of the program, Joyce Kellison played the keyboard. Kellison's granddaughter, Victoria Edwards, opened the program with "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." Victoria and her mother, Kathy sang the wedding song Joyce composed for her daughter's wedding.
Grace Yoder shared selections of prose and jokes.
June and July birthdays were recognized. They included Nadine Iseli, Preston Huston, Joyce Kellison, Sue Peterson, Alberta Pritz, Caroline White, and John Yoder.
Anniversaries recognized included Mary Alice and Don Jolley, Gloria and Bob Moody, Sue and Willis Peterson, Marg and Jerry Richardson, and Cara and Jerald Stockdale.
Helen Beckham reported on contributions to the landscaping around the CCC statue with special recognition given to Wayne Reno. Beckham also provided an update on the installation of a walking path and future plans. Reno suggested public recognition be given to the Beckhams for the work they have contributed to the statue project.
Dwight Beckham provided a rough draft of the lake directory. He requested individuals proofread the draft and make changes as needed.
Treasurer Nadine Iseli reported the coordinating committee had transferred funds from the checking account into one-year and two-year certificates of deposit. She reported donations of items for drawings in April, May, and June had compensated for deficits in the hall rental budget to date.
Kay Navrat was the winner of the June drawing for a twig planter filled with bedding plants.
The July 2 meeting will be a cookout at 6:30 p.m. at the east shelter house.
Hamburgers and brats will be furnished. Families are asked to bring a salad or dessert and lawn chairs.
Hosts will be Nadine and Delmar Iseli, Rachel and Marion Toland, Sharon Williams, and Creighton Smith.
