Lake: Team raises $3,000 in Relay years ago

What a beautiful evening it was for Relay for Life. It was a little warm at the beginning, but my midnight you wore a light jacket or kept walking.

I think there was a record number of luminaries, around 1,300. We just finished putting new ones out at 9 p.m. when it was time to light them. That was very impressive to see with the lights out and the full moon. If you weren't there, you missed a beautiful event.

The team I was on, Wheeler Walkers, won the traveling trophy for the most money collected. We collected more than $3,000, and I think the total was around $23,000.

After Dale made his rounds of the lake at 11 p.m., he came in and walked with me. Others who came to keep me awake and walk were Lynn and Kristy Hess and Earlene Petty.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed and also to Jan Helmer and her committee.

We had several campers out over the weekend. They kept us busy. Several boat fishermen were out Saturday and Sunday mornings. Bass fishing has slowed a little with the warmer temperatures, but channel cat continue to bite. One couple showed Dale seven nice channel weighing eight pounds and under.

The hall was busy Saturday and Sunday with reunions of the Rudiger and Bechelmayrs families.

We still have trash bags, so if you haven't picked them up, please do so. Also, don't forget Chat and Dine Saturday night.
