Lane Broadstreet

Lane Broadstreet, 65, died March 5, 2006, at Marion Manor.

Born Feb. 12, 1941, at Hillsboro, he was the son of Bernard and Genevieve (Bailey) Broadstreet.

He graduated from Marion High School in 1959. He attended Sterling College and later received his master's degree in music education from Wichita State University.

He taught at Sylvia, Coffeyville, Derby, Wichita, and Howard for a total of 19 years. He then worked for Farm Bureau as a claims adjuster for 19 years while living in Topeka.

On May 25, 1964, he married Carol Starr at Sterling.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of Marion; son, Douglas of Halstead; daughter, Jennifer Corona of Marion; three sisters, Nancy Bowen of Manhattan, Bernadeen Winter of Marion, and Judy Stauffer of Algonquin, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 7 at Marion Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Jeremiah Lange and Chuck Carlson officiating.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Marion Presbyterian Church or Eastmoor United Methodist Church music departments.
