Larry W. McLain

Larry W. McLain, 59, devoted husband, father, and grandpa, died March 23, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

Larry was born Dec. 10, 1946, at Timpson, Texas, the son of James and Ruth McLain.

He graduated from Flour Bluff High School, Texas, in 1965.

On June 11, 1968, he married Linda Larson. Together, the couple had three children, Larry Jr., Jennifer, and Jim.

The family made Marion their home in 1979, where Larry continued his work in the oil and gas business. He most recently was employed as a gas marketing representative for American Energies.

Larry was actively involved in the Marion community, including Marion Lions Club, summer baseball program, as well as serving as a member of Marion City Commission.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all their sporting activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Marion; two sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Jr. and Stephanie McLain of Shawnee and Jim McLain of Hesston; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mike Kelsey of Newton; six grandchildren, Shelbie and Jacob McLain, Adam, Kyle, and Evan Kelsey, and Bailey McLain; sister and niece, Bertie Mae Ebert and Khrissy of Sugarland, Texas.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at Marion Christian Church.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with the Leukemia Society of America.
