Larsen gets nod as EMS director
Interim Marion County Emergency Medical Services Director Larry Larsen was offered and accepted the director's position on a permanent basis.
Marion County Commission held two executive sessions with Larsen for a total of 25 minutes during Monday's meeting and then had a five-minute executive session without Larsen before making the offer to Larsen.
Larsen, of Peabody, was appointed by the commission following the firing of Darryl Thiesen on Dec. 18.
The position was advertised with numerous applicants responding.
The work week for the new director will be 40 hours a week. A salary will be determined at the next commission meeting.
Thiesen had served the county as the EMS director for three years.
