Laura Safford
Laura Edna Safford, 98, died Dec. 15, 2004, at Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson. Born Feb. 18, 1906, in rural Marion County, she was the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Socolofsky) Kleiber.
On Oct. 8, 1950, she married Gale Starr Safford in McPherson.
She graduated from Tampa High School and Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. She taught mathematics, then was bookkeeper and credit manager for Machinery and Supplies Company in Kansas City. She retired in 1976.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two sisters. Survivors include two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at McPherson. A private family graveside service was held in McPherson Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established with Alterra Sterling House or Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson, or Hospice Care of Kansas.
