Leadership Marion County accepts nominations

Marion County Economic Development Council and Leadership Marion County Board of Trustees are accepting applications from Marion County residents for the 2005 Leadership Marion County class. Anyone may apply or nominate a Marion County resident.

The class begins in January and consists of one full day each second Thursday of the month through August. Each of the eight class sessions is held in various areas of Marion County, and includes leadership skills development.

One session includes a trip to Topeka to tour the state capital and to meet elected officials. Class participants will learn how to lead a group to perform effectively through vision, consensus, teamwork, and collaboration.

New to the program is the addition of a class project, where class members are expected to choose, develop and implement their project together. This addition is the "lab" of the leadership program. Time will be allotted in class sessions, but additional time outside of class may be needed.

Tuition fee for each participant is $150, which covers only a partial cost of the program. This includes meals, graduation dinner, materials, and program costs. The fee may be paid by the participant, his/her employer or sponsoring organization.

Leadership Marion County Board of Trustees selects class participants and develops class curriculum and agendas.

Trustees are chairman Joanna Brazil, Peabody; vice chairman Jim Elliott, Hillsboro; secretary Elise Brunhoeber, Burns; Steve Garrett, Hillsboro; Racquel Thiesen, Goessel; Sarah Cope, Florence; Carolyn Koehn, Burns; Tina Groening, Marion; and Darryl Thiesen, Goessel.

For more information, please contact any of the Board of Trustees. Nomination forms are due by Dec. 8.
