Leo Regier

Leo Regier, 94, died April 1, 2006, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

Born Feb. 16, 1912, at Enid, Okla., he was the son of Nicholas and Anna (Wiens) Regier.

He was a graduate of Marion High School.

On Nov. 24, 1940, he married Ferne Harris at Marion.

The couple farmed in Arkansas for a short time, then lived in Manhattan for 25 years while Leo worked as a police officer. He retired in 1975, as chief of police.

He was a member of Eastmoor United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alvin Regier; sister, Goldie Bartel; and three great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Ferne of Marion; three daughters, Donna DeSantis of Aurora, Colo., Diana Sprecker of Olathe, and Barbara Springer of Wamego; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Eastmoor United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Goering officiating.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with Eastmoor United Methodist Church music department.
