LeRoy Bingaman

LeRoy J. Bingaman, 84, died Aug. 18, 2005, at Pratt Regional Medical Center.

Born July 15, 1921, at Garfield, he was the son of Earl and Freda (Hahn) Bingaman.

A Pratt resident since 1972, and formerly of Marion, he was a soil conservationist for the United States Department of Agriculture.

He was a veteran of World War II and member of American Legion Post #300, Garfield, for more than 60 years. He also was a member of First Christian Church, Pratt, and North American Fishing Club.

On Dec. 17, 1946, he married Lela Pindell at Lawton, Okla.

Survivors include his wife, Lela; five daughters, Conna Livingston of Anthony, Marla Schlepp of Salina, Leila Montoia of Farmington, N.M., Renea of Altoona, and Leasa Wolf of Richardson, Texas; a son, Henry Bingaman of Pratt; sister, Earlene Dupree of Cimarron; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt, with John Havens officiating.

Burial was in Garfield Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #300, Garfield.

A memorial fund has been established with Kansas Christian Home.
