Let s get ready

With September knocking at the door, that means it's almost time for Art in the Park and Old Settlers' Day.

Both events draw thousands of people to Marion and it's an ideal time to showcase what we have to offer and show visitors we're proud of our town.

Like preparing for the holidays or planning for the arrival of special guests, we can use a little elbow grease to make Main Street sparkle. The next few weeks will provide plenty of time for us to pull weeds, mow the grass, and clean up around businesses and homes.

Since Central Park is the focal point of both events, it stands to reason the park needs a little special attention. Volunteers are needed for a cleanup session Sept. 10 at the park. Bring work gloves and yard tools and come at 8 a.m. to help spruce up the park.
