Letha Hughes
Letha Mae Hughes, 82, of Peabody, died Dec. 28, 2007, at Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis campus, Wichita.
Born June 9, 1925, in Craig County, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Robert and Ida May (Kinman) Thornton.
On Sept. 5, 1942, she married Warren Walton Hughes at Edna.
She was a former employee of the Peabody Gazette-Bulletin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Warren Hughes of Emporia, Jack Hughes of Palmer, Alaska, and Marc Hughes of Carney, Okla.; daughter, Carolyn Anderson of Peabody; brother-in-law, Larson Hughes of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Joy Valjean Kallenberger of Clairmore, Okla.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Broce of Peabody and Norma Reid of Anthony; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 31 at Baker Funeral Home, Peabody, with Pastor James Pohlman officiating.
Burial was in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
