Don't bite the hand

that feeds you

To the Editor:

We never have been ones to voice our opinions about how things are run in this county, until now. We have sat back and kept our mouths closed long enough.

The way business owners are treated in this town appalls us. We keep reading articles in the paper about how Marion County wants to encourage new businesses to come here. On the other hand, when you do come here, get ready to be tied up in zoning loopholes that never seem to end.

Our business supplies jobs for Marion County residents, from fuel bought here to repairs and maintenance done, to all of our equipment. Not to mention all the property tax that is spent in this county. We keep our dollars at home.

This county was founded on an agricultural way of life. Our customer base is mainly Marion County residents who pay taxes as well. With the road construction being the way it is today, delivering cattle to our customers has become somewhat of a nightmare.

We constantly are being harassed by local and state law enforcement when we drive our trucks through town. And, we might add, the town does not have a truck route posted to give specific roads for us to use. Let's face it, we have to drive through town to make our deliveries.

We are almost positive that the freight truck that brought your steak to your local grocery store didn't get stopped outside of town on Sunflower Road and asked before they even got to town why they were driving down that road, was it a BAR H truck? So, next time you bite into your nice, juicy steak, just ask yourself how it got to your plate.
