Lewis wins national entrepreneurship contest
Abby Lewis, 17-year-old granddaughter of Dale and Pat Smith of Marion, recently was named winner of the first annual Smith Barney/NFTE National Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in New York City.
The Kapaun-Mount Carmel High School junior competed with 28 other teen entrepreneurs from around the U.S. Her product, the Scribbler, is a nail polish pen applicator. She currently is seeking a patent and plans to sell the product wholesale to retailers. She already has had offers to sell it in Wichita stores.
For her efforts, Lewis received $10,000 for seed capital or college expenses.
She is the daughter of Chuck and Jan Lewis of Derby.
