Local restaurant reports forgery activities

Hillsboro Police Department reported there was an attempted forgery at Pizza Hut May 10. Tyson Miller reported a subject attempted to purchase gift certificates with a check but left the restaurant when asked to show identification. A suspect has been identified and the case remains under investigation. Two days later, Pizza Hut personnel reported a forgery had occurred several days earlier. A suspect in that case has been identified and the case is under investigation.

May 7: A motorist received assistance. Suspicious activities were checked at Marion County Fairgrounds and Cooperative Grain & Supply.

Monday: A motorist received assistance at the fairgrounds. Marvin Funk reported someone had broken into the Lions Club concession stand at Tabor College; $15 worth of candy was removed and $100 in damages were reported. Terry Pritchert of Tabor College reported someone had used force to enter college locker rooms and a storage shed; a golf cart was removed and pushed on the football field. A dog complaint was filed at Second and Ash streets. Subjects were fingerprinted for employment. Complaints were made of dogs in the 700 block of South Washington and the 300 block of West Third streets. An officer provided a camper hookup at Memorial Park. A suspicious person was checked in the 300 block of North Birch Street.

Tuesday: An abandoned bicycle was picked up at A and Jefferson streets. A missing person was reported in the 700 block of South Washington Street. Subjects were fingerprinted for employment. A traffic complaint was filed in the 600 block of North Ash Street. Several reports were made of suspicious activities; the officers located several college students playing a game and running through yards. An animal neglect complaint was filed in the 300 block of North Washington Street.

Wednesday: Justin Hein reported stereo equipment was stolen from his vehicle between May 4 and May 8 while parked at his residence; value of the equipment was $300. A complaint was made of a vehicle parked on a soccer field in the sports complex. A noise complaint in Memorial Park was filed.

Thursday: A parking complaint was made in the 100 block of East Grand Street. An attempted phone scam was reported; the intended victim hung up when the caller asked for personal information. A noise complaint was made in the 200 block of East Kennedy Street. A reckless driver was reported in the 500 block of East Grand Street.

Friday: A complaint about parking was filed at Second and Washington streets. Suspicious activity was reported on U.S.-56. EMS received assistance on a call in the 200 block of West C Street. Suspicious activity was reported in the 500 block of West Grand Street.

Saturday: A funeral escort was provided. Suspicious activity was reported in the 800 block of East D Street. Tabor College students were warned to stay off private property following a report of suspicious activity while students were playing a game. A noise complaint was filed in the 100 block of South Main Street.

May 14: Suspicious activity was reported in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street; a room was searched for possible drug activity. A gas skip was reported at Vogt's Hometown Market; the individual returned and paid. A gas skip was reported at Ampride.

Monday: Marion County Sheriff's Department received assistance with a drug search. A dog complaint was made on West Grand Street. A subject was fingerprinted for employment. A threat complaint was made in the 400 block of South Jefferson Street. Suspicious activity was reported in the alleys on Birch Street. Assistance was given to the sheriff's department for a report of people discharging firearms on federal property.

Tuesday: A dog complaint was filed at D and Ash streets. A suspicious vehicle was reported in the 200 block of South Birch Street. The sheriff's department received assistance with a domestic disturbance. A noise complaint was made at Main and D streets.

Wednesday: Eastborough Police Department received assistance with a background investigation. A traffic complaint was filed at Floral and D streets. Robert Giles, 400 S. Jefferson Street, reported someone had removed his wallet from his dorm room; the loss was estimated at $15. A traffic complaint was filed at the fairgrounds. A trash cart was tipped over and trash spread across a street at the sports complex.

Thursday: Gary Andrews reported someone had removed and thrown several markers from Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course; he also reported damage to three sprinkler heads; total damages were estimated at $225. Dale Franz reported someone had removed several Christmas light bulbs from the roof of Quick Flick Video Store, 101 S. Main Street and threw them on the street; loss was estimated at $77. A threat complaint was filed in the 700 block of South Washington Street; a subject reported an unknown person had made threats toward a third person through a text message on a cell phone. A commercial alarm in the 200 block of North Main Street was activated. A dog complaint in the 200 block of East D Street was made. A cat bite was reported in the 300 block of South Birch Street; the cat was taken to a veterinarian for observation.

Friday: Officers performed a seat belt safety lane at A and Wilson streets. A subject was arrested for driving on a suspended driver's license and outstanding warrants following a traffic stop. A subject was fingerprinted for employment. EMS received assistance at Hillsboro Elementary School. A domestic disturbance was reported and determined to be a child custody dispute in the 200 block of South Wilson Street. A parking complaint was filed in the 200 block of South Wilson Street. Domestic disturbance was reported in the 300 block of North Birch Street.

Saturday: A dog complaint was made in the 500 block of North Ash Street. A complaint of a non-domestic animal was filed in the 400 block of South Ash Street. The sheriff's department received assistance from the K-9 unit for a vehicle search.
