Loose dogs keep officers busy

Marion police officers responded this past week to numerous dog complaints.

Oct. 17: Stolen property was recovered. A funeral escort was provided. A lost cell phone was reported. An ambulance crew received assistance on a run. A warning was issued for exhibition of speed.

Tuesday: A dog running at-large was captured. A telephone harassment complaint was filed. A lost juvenile was located by a parent. A civil stand-by was conducted. Lost property was located and taken to police department.

Wednesday: A barking dog complaint was made. Property used in an investigation was returned to its owner. An officer responded to a 911 hang-up; everything was OK. Response was given to a business alarm; everything was OK. Multiple business alarms were activated due to the weather.

Thursday: An officer met with an individual regarding a trespassing issue. Two funeral escorts were conducted. Two citations were issued for dogs running at-large. Two warning citations were issued for parking violations. Assistance was given to an ambulance crew on a run.

Friday: Vehicle identification number inspections were conducted. A dog was picked up for running at-large. A warning citation was issued for a parking violation.

Saturday: An ambulance crew received assistance on a run. Response was given to a harassment complaint.

Sunday: An officer met with an individual regarding a dog complaint. Hillsboro Police Department received assistance on a battery case.

Officers drove 842 miles, issued two citations, and four warning citations. There were no arrests.

Theft occurs

at MHS classroom

At 8 a.m. Oct. 4, someone stole an external computer hard drive from a classroom at Marion High School, 901 E. Main, Marion.

The equipment is valued at $250, reports Marion Police Officer Howard Kahler.
