Not too much news. We had about one inch of rain. My yard was covered with water — looked like a pond. It is hard for the farmers to feed cattle. Corrals are so muddy. It is not easy for the cattle to walk in it. I had Larry Rudolph put the big bale out in the pasture for my cattle.

We want to extend our sympathy to George and Charlene Svitak and to the Todd Svitak family. Todd died Feb. 4 on U.S.-50.

We also extend our sympathy to the Sam Alvarez family and Delores Alvarez. Sam had died during the night of Feb. 4.

Jeanetta Hanschu took her husband, Junior to Salina Saturday where they went to a movie, shopping, and ate out in celebration of Junior's birthday.

Rita Stuchlik and Kelby Schawe of Wichita ate dinner Sunday with her folks, Alex and Jean Stuchlik. Sylvia Bezdek also was a guest.

Angie Stika and her children, Macayla, Alex, and Miranda of Lincolnville visited Thursday evening with Irma and Bob Reznicek.

Monty Stuchlik did household chores Sunday for his mother, Frances Stuchlik. She has the flu. She said many residents of Herington Lutheran Nursing Home where she works also have the flu.

Ralph and Betty Stroda of Herington visited Friday night with Irma and Bob Reznicek.

I talked to Max and Estella Kohler of Silver Springs, Md., Sunday and wished them happy anniversary. They were married 66 years ago Feb. 6 at the Evangelical church at Lost Springs. I was Estella's only attendant.

It might be a little late but I think it is worth mentioning. The first born twins born on Kansas Day in Kansas were Larry and Gary Busey, sons of Melvin and Betty Busey of Topeka 49 years ago. Larry is married and lives in Topeka. They have a daughter and son. Gary is married and lives in Rogers, Ark. They have two daughters. Both of their parents are deceased.

Several of the neighbors went to the rosary and funerals of Todd Svitak and Sam Alvarez. They were Steve Katz, Mike and Karen Walsh, Dr. and Hallie Novak, Alex Stuchlik, Mervin Deines, Bob and Irma Reznicek, Larry Rudolph, and Mike and Sandra Jo Smith of Great Bend.

Steve Katz drove to Lawrence Feb. 5 to visit his sister, Barbie and B. They took him to Nebraska to watch the Nebraska and KU basketball game.

Bob and Hallie Novak attended the funeral of Harry Miller Saturday at Hebron Lutheran Church near Burdick.

Larry Rudolph visited with me and the Mike Walsh family Sunday afternoon.

Oaklan and Tia Jenkins spent Saturday afternoon and night with their grandma, Selma Ingram.

Bob Reznicek attended the 1A State Scholar Bowl tournament Saturday afternoon at Centre High School. Ella Reznicek, daughter of Ed and Mary Reznicek of Golf participated for Wetmore High School. There were 16 high schools that participated. Bob visited with his brother Ed and Mary during the event.

My son, Lowell Strecker of San Antonio, Texas, called Sunday afternoon. He said they were having one rainstorm after another and chilly weather.

As I am writing this news a plumber is replacing the copper tubing to my stoves in the dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. Last night I detected bad fumes in the kitchen and bathroom.
