Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu went on a bus tour July 9-14 to Chicago. Some of the sites they visited were Lincoln's tomb and library and museum at Springfield, Ill. In Chicago they went to the Sears Tower, had a tour of Chicago on a double-decker bus, visited the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, went to the Museum of Science and Industry and the field museum, visited the Shedd Aquarium, Navy pier, and had a sightseeing boat ride. On the way home they visited the Billy Graham Center in Wheaton, Ill., and the Herbert Hoover Center in West Branch, Iowa.

James Weber swathed and baled my alfalfa and brome grass the week of July 17.

Gilbert Smith was a July 13 visitor of Larry Rudolph.

Selma Ingram accompanied Evelyn Strecker to Herington Sunday afternoon.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik, Chris and Melissa Stuchlik and family, and Kelby and Rita Schawe attended the Watts family reunion basket dinner July 15 at Chanute. About 60 people attended.

Bob Reznicek took his sister, Carol Makovec to Pizza Hut July 9 for dinner in celebration of her birthday.

Len and Becky Miller of Cove Creek, Ariz., came July 6 to her mother, Frances Stuchlik's home. A family picnic was held July 8 at the Herington park. Frances and Len and Becky were July 9 dinner guests of Don and Ramona Beisel at Tampa. The evening of July 10, Frances, the Millers, and the Beisels went to Wichita where they were supper guests of Ruby Scharping. Frances, Len, and Becky were overnight guests while Don and Ramona were overnight guests of Jim and Connie Janzen. They all went shopping July 11. Len and Becky left for Kingman July 12, where they visited Len's family. All the others returned to their homes.

Bob Reznicek picked up Irma Reznicek at St. Luke Living Center July 15 and went to Mass at St. Mark Catholic Church. After Mass they went to the activity center for donuts and coffee.

Lowell Strecker of San Antonio, Texas, is having a couple of plates put in his vertebrae in his neck through to his throat at the United Methodist hospital in San Antonio. He will be in a brace for six weeks. Please pray for him. His vertebrae are deteriorated in his neck and he had little feeling in his arms.

An aunt and friend hosted a baby shower July 14 in honor of Kyla Alenbach of Moundridge. Ramona Beisel, Megan Stuchlik, Melissa Stuchlik, and Frances Stuchlik accompanied Sarah Stuchlik to the shower.

Did you ever have oak poisoning? Well I have it. I sawed three little trees south of the barn July 10 and there was a vine in the middle. On July 12 I carried the trees and vines to the brush pile. I broke out Thursday evening, learning it was an oak vine. I still have it, but I'll be OK.

Jennifer Braden and Joshua and Neil and Jolene Albrecht and Kallie, Morgan, and Landon were July 4 guests of Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu. All attended the parade that evening at Ramona.

Bob and Carol Makovec hosted a luncheon June 30. Guests were Brandon and Christine Makovec, Andrew and Alexia of Veal Air Force Base, Calif., Nicole and Alison Klug of Herington, and Bob Reznicek.

Kelby and Rita Schawe of Wichita were July 3-4 guests of Alex and Jean Stuchlik.

Adella Katz visited Evelyn Strecker June 29 after working at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

Micky Black visited Evelyn Strecker July 3.

Bob Reznicek picked up his mother, Irma July 3 and they went to Mike Holub's funeral at Pilsen. John and Helen Reznicek of Marion and Tom Reznicek of Lawrence also attended the funeral.

Alex Stuchlik's Polka Band played July 3 at Legacy Park, Peabody. A big crowd attended the barbecue supper, program, and fireworks.

Douglas Strecker of Hesston was my July 4 dinner guest. He mowed my lawn. He left early enough to pick up his wife, Marsha and Matthew at Hesston to go to the parade and fireworks in Peabody.

Larry Rudolph attended the rosary and funeral for Mike Holub July 3 at Pilsen.

Jason and Carla Hajek of Hugoton had a baby boy, Carter Martin, born June 28. Grandma Raelene Hajek drove to Hugoton June 28 to see the baby boy and came home June 29. Carter has a three-year-old brother, Cooper.

Larry Rudolph was a 4th of July dinner guest of Mike and Karen Walsh and Renae.

Raelene Hajek drove to Hutchinson July 5 where she met her daughter, Lynette and children, Cade, Maggie, and Josie. Raelene took her grandchildren home with her for a couple of days.

Carol Makovec picked up her mom, Irma Reznicek July 7 at St. Luke Living Center and went to Valley United Methodist Church to attend a bridal shower in honor of Josie Loewen of Oklahoma City, Okla. Josie will be getting married in August.

Clark Strecker of Rose Hill spent July 6 to 8 with me. He did a lot of work. Douglas Strecker of Hesston also was here July 7 an did some spraying.

Selma Ingram accompanied Connie Jenkins, Oaklan and Tia to the Herington Lake July 4 to watch the fireworks.

Larry Rudolph and Micky Black did some shingling on my house July 5.

Raelene Hajek met her son, Jason at Larned July 7 to pick up his son, Cooper, who spent a few days with Grandpa and Grandma, Paul and Raelene. When she took Cooper to meet his daddy, Lynette McClean and her three children of Goodland met Raelene at Hays and the children came home with Raelene while Jon and Lynette move to Buhler.

Irma Reznicek accompanied Bob and Carol Makovec to the home of Randy and Colleen Klug at Herington to join other families and relatives for a Mexican dinner in honor of Brandon and Christine Makovec, Andrew and Alexia. They left for Veal Air Force Base, Calif., Tuesday. John and Helen Reznicek took Irma back to Marion.

I'm canning my first tomatoes. I put some peas in the deep freeze. I have been eating my potatoes, beans, and onions. The purple morning glories are so pretty in the morning.

Wayne Schwartzman of Park City was at my place July 4. We had a nice visit.

After fixing fence July 10, Larry Rudolph was my dinner guest. He told me his sows had little piggies.
