Mervin and Leona Deines attended the Phillip Deines reunion Sunday at Herington Senior Center. They had a potluck dinner. Lots of pots and a lot of good luck. They had a good turnout. Chris Deines' family, Imogene Goodman of Herington, Leon Deines of Wichita, and Marilyn Montgomery of Lincolnville were hosts.

I attended the American Legion Veterans' Affairs tour Tuesday afternoon at St. John's Lutheran Church basement in Lincolnville. Jim Tull, tourmaster, a couple of American Legion officers, Fourth District American Legion Auxiliary president Colleen Budenbender and Fourth District vice president Dorothy Galloway, Wesley Fenske, Lincolnville Legion member, Toby Loveless, Betty Beneke, and Delores Albrecht, Lincolnville American Legion Auxiliary members were present. The District American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary officers presented their programs for the year. Creative arts is their project.

Larry Rudolph visited Friday with his sister, Karen and Mike Walsh.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxon, Hillsboro, Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Joshua, Windom, Neil and Jolene Albrecht, Kelly Jo and Morgan, Salina, Sally Utech, Lawrence, and Fred and Marguerite Utech attended the William and Marie Utech reunion at Trinity Lutheran parish hall, Ramona. Fifty attended the potluck dinner. After dinner the kids and some adults made scarecrows of Erich Utech and Tony Meyer and put them up near Erich's home. They ate homemade ice cream.

Sally Utech of Lawrence stayed overnight Saturday with Fred and Marguerite Utech. She went home Sunday morning.

Diann Enzs of Keller, Texas, and her four sons, Jacob, Colton, Kyle, and Joseph arrived Saturday morning at the home of Alex and Jean Stuchlik. They plan to visit in the area for several days. Rita Stuchlik of Wichita visited Saturday with her parents, Alex and Jean, and their houseguests.

My son, Douglas Strecker of Hesston spent Saturday with me. He trimmed some trees, mowed the lawn, and checked vehicles and tractors for antifreeze. He was my dinner guest. He also drove to Todd Svitak's shop to get my 1987 Ford.

Frances Stuchlik helped Sarah Stuchlik celebrate her birthday Tuesday.

Selma Ingram entertained her granddaughters, Oaklan and Tia, Friday for supper. Saturday Selma took them to Lincolnville Octoberfest celebration.

Don and Ramona Beisel, Tampa, visited Saturday with their mother, Frances Stuchlik.

Carol Makovec visited Sunday afternoon with her mom, Irma Reznicek and brother, Bob Reznicek.

Ruby Sharping of Wichita visited her mother, Frances Stuchlik, Sunday afternoon.

Jeff Deines is busy combining milo and soy beans. Mervin Deines prepares the ground for his son, Terry, to plant the wheat. Other farmers also are combining corn, milo, and soybeans. The yield of corn and milo is good. Since the frost, no more vegetables in the garden.

Michael and Angie Stika, Micayla, Alex, and Miranda of rural Burdick visited Sunday night with Irma and Bob Reznicek.

Larry Rudolph and I took a large bale of brome grass to a pasture Sunday afternoon to feed some horses.

Mrs. Frank Wirtz handed out commodities Thursday and Friday afternoon.

Kenny Stuchlik of Towanda is visiting his mother, Frances Stuchlik, today (Monday). He came to help his brother, Monty Stuchlik, with the harvest of milo and soybeans.
