Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu joined others in Newton to go on the Trudent bus tour. They left Newton Thursday morning for Branson, Mo. That evening they saw the Dutton Family Show. Friday morning they saw Dogwood Canyon. That night they watched the Star-Spangled Banner celebration. Saturday morning they listened to Yakov Smirnoff. That evening they watched the Sons of the Pioneers outside the theater. They attended the Grand Ol' Gospel Hour Sunday morning before leaving for Newton.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu drove to Hillsboro Oct. 9 to watch their grandson, Jakob Hanschu play soccer at Hillsboro Elementary School. Fred and Marguerite Utech accompanied Junior and Jeanetta to the soccer game.

Bob and Irma Reznicek attended the Tampa Knights of Columbus breakfast Oct. 10 after Mass at the Pilsen Catholic church. It was held at the senior center in Tampa.

Bob and Irma Reznicek went to Irene Tajchman's rosary Oct. 7 at St. John Nep. Church, Pilsen. They also went to her funeral Oct. 8 at the church. Larry Rudolph also attended the funeral.

Emmett and Minnie Sroufe, Garden Plains, visited Oct. 7 with Larry Rudolph.

Darren Hajek, Salina, visited Oct. 9-10 with his parents, Ronnie and Leona Hajek and brother, Trent.

Joyce Ratzloff visited Friday afternoon with Evelyn Strecker.

Farmers are busy trying to combine milo, soybeans, and corn between the rains. It is late in October and there are still a lot of leaves on the trees. My blue morning glories on the fence are still in bloom. The tomato plants have not frozen. Groups of birds are going south.

George and Charlene Svitak, Pilsen, accompanied Alex and Jean Stuchlik Sunday afternoon to Carlton where Alex and Charlene played for a benefit for Dane Seeney who has cancer. Later the Svitaks visited at Alex and Jean's home.

Mervin and Leona Deines drove Oct. 11 to Wichita to visit Vernon and Bonnie Deines.

Larry Rudolph was my supper guest Friday and dinner guest Saturday. We placed some bales around my house, fed cattle, took some bales to Joyce's horses, and other chores.

Oaklan and Tia Jenkins were Saturday and Saturday night guests of grandma, Selma Ingram.

I received a telephone call Friday from my daughter-in-law, Carla Strecker, San Antonio, Texas. She said something unusual happened Monday night. They had lightning and thunder while it was raining. They never have lightning and thunder. She said Lowell was in Virginia that week visiting his daughter, Marisa, and family and Carla's daughter, Tiffany. I also asked her if her folks had damage when hurricane hit Mobile, Ala. They had some roof damage but a lot of damage around them. They did not have electricity for three weeks.

Mervin Deines and brother, Weldon Deines, Herington, went to Manhattan Saturday to watch Kansas State and Oklahoma University football game. Kansas State lost.

Bob Makovec helped Bob Reznicek combine milo Sunday afternoon and then ate supper with Bob and Irma.

Bob and Irma Reznicek went to Angela Tajchman's funeral Saturday morning at St. Mark Catholic Church in Marion.
