Fred and Marguerite Utech accompanied Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu Friday night to Hillsboro where they attended the preschool Christmas program at Trinity Mennonite Church. Jorge Hanschu, son of Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Hillsboro, was in the program.

Carol Makovec visited her mother, Irma Reznicek and brother, Bob Reznicek several times this past week.

Mervin and Leona Deines attended the Ramona Tox O' Wick Christmas supper Saturday night at Trinity parish hall.

Ryan and Amber Hershberger, Newton, are proud parents for the first time Nov. 18 of a baby girl, Madison Rylee, born at Newton Medical Center. She weighed 7 pounds and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Charles and Adele Laing, Newton; great-grandma, Judy Cutting, Oklahoma City, Okla.; great-grandpa, Douglas Strecker, Hesston; and great-great-grandma, Evelyn Strecker.

Bob Reznicek and Irma Reznicek were in Newton Friday to visit the eye doctor.

Larry Rudolph was here Friday to give the cattle a large bale of brome grass. One of my cows had a calf Dec. 16.

Frances Stuchlik accompanied her daughter, Ramona Beisel of Tampa Saturday to Haysville. Frances' niece, Tish Holub, daughter of Joe Holub and the late Trudy Holub married John Taylor of Overland Park Dec. 3 in Overland Park. Frances and Ramona attended the wedding reception held at St. Cecelia parish hall at 2 p.m. in Haysville. That evening they attended Mass at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Haysville.

I talked with my son, Lowell Strecker, San Antonio, Texas, Wednesday night. He said it felt cold and wanted to know how cold it was here. He has been working 10 to 13 hours at the Boerne Post Office. Because of e-mail, they are handling many packages. I dread looking forward to the cold days forecast for Wednesday through Friday.

Helen Ambry and her husband Elma visited Friday evening with me.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
