Don and Ramona Beisel of Tampa picked up their mother, Frances Stuchlik to attend Mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church Sunday at Wichita. When Mass was over more than 500 members held a surprise birthday dinner and party in honor of their priest, Father Richard Stuchlik. They had a large birthday cake with a question mark on top informing people Father Richard was not telling anyone his age. The meal included Mexican and Vietnamese food. After dinner a Marachi band played and Spanish dancers entertained. Others in the Stuchlik family who attended the Mass, dinner, and party were Ruby Scharping of Wichita and Joe Holub of Haysville. Kenneth and Melinda Stuchlik and son Matthew of Towanda attended the dinner and party.

Monty Stuchlik and mom, Frances Stuchlik went Saturday to Hillsboro to attend the funeral of Martha Scharping at the Mennonite church. Martha was Ruby Scharping's mother-in-law. Others who attended were Terry and Grace Stuchlik, Peter and Katie of Emporia. The Terry Stuchlik family visited at the Frances Stuchlik home after the funeral.

David Mueller of Tampa brought 31 straw bales a week ago to my yard. The next day Larry and I placed them around the house. David and I had a nice visit.

Jennifer Braden of Windom brought her son, Joshua to her parents, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu Friday. Jennifer teaches at Inman and had a conference to attend that day. Junior, Jeanetta, and Joshua went to Salina to baby-sit for Neil and Jolene Albrecht's children, Kallie and Morgan. Joshua stayed overnight Friday with his grandparents and his mother got him Saturday.

Frances Stuchlik reports she is a great-grandma. Dan and Melissa Stuchlik are parents of a baby girl, Alexandra Marie, born Oct. 15 at St. Joseph Hospital at Wichita. She was a tiny baby weighing only 4 pounds, 8 ounces. Alexandra still is in the hospital. She has an 18-month-old brother, Tanner. Grandparents are Monty and Sarah Stuchlik and Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion. Other great-grandparents are Leona Kleiber of Tampa and Ruby Vinduska of Pilsen.

Wayne Schwartzman of Park City visited Saturday afternoon with me. He was near Tampa to winterize his home. He also visited his uncle, Emil Pospisil at Marion Manor in Marion.

Bill Barrett of Herington visited Saturday with Larry Rudolph. Larry's sow had eight piglets. Bill wanted to see them.

Lawrence and Helen Ambry of Edna visited Monday evening with me.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik went Sunday afternoon to the dance at Pilsen Community Center. Gene Vinduska band played. Bob and Irma Reznicek also attended.

Micky Black of Herington visited his uncle, Larry Rudolph Saturday night.

Terry Deines said his children, Mackenzie, Dylan, and Carly were planning what they are wearing and where they are going for Halloween.

Selma Ingram visited Tuesday morning with me. She didn't have to work that day. She was going to make purple cushions for her two granddaughters' rockers that afternoon.

Junior Hanschu said he was getting ready to get some cattle out of pasture this week and some next week. After two or three frosts, the grass in the pastures gets bitter. Cattle do eat leaves that fall on the ground.

I talked to my son, Lowell of San Antonio, Texas, Sunday afternoon. He said they were busy at the post office at Boerne, Texas. His wife, Carla, was busy baby-sitting for their two-year-old grandchild, Xavier. His son, Tony, plays quarterback on a football team. Their team has won three games out of four.

Gregory Stenzel and daughter, Nikki were Sunday dinner guests of Betty Stenzel.

Carol Makovec and son, John Reznicek of Marion visited Oct. 19 with Irma and Bob Reznicek. Bob and Irma enjoyed dinner Friday at Gambino's Pizza at Marion with Carol, John, and Helen Reznicek of Marion.

Sorry to hear Neil Elgin of Ramona died Tuesday evening.

Larry Rudolph visited with me Sunday night after doing some shopping in Herington.

Bob Makovec helped Bob Reznicek Saturday move cattle from the pasture to his home corral.
