March 9-15

Marcel and Irma Benda came Thursday to wish me happy birthday. I was born at midnight March 9, 1915. Dr. Saylor signed the birth certificate March 10 so my parents made that my official birth date. I received telephone calls Friday evening from my cousin Ed Bezdek of Millbrae, Calif., and my sister, Estella and Max Kohler of Silver Springs, Md., all wishing me a happy birthday. I received many beautiful and humorous cards.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu went to the FFA supper and slave auction Thursday night at Centre High School.

Clinton Hanschu's funeral services were held Friday morning at Trinity Lutheran Church at Ramona. Those attending from the area were Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Mervin and Leona Deines, Larry Rudolph, and Evelyn Strecker. Interment was at Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.

After Clinton's services, Larry Rudolph ate lunch with me and then attended John Stromes' funeral services at Donahue Mortuary at Herington. John was 88 years old. He was a good welder and served as mayor of Lost Springs several years ago.

Tampa co-op had a dinner and meeting Saturday. Mervin Deines, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Larry Rudolph, Monty Stuchlik, and Ronnie Hajek were present.

Clive Siegle of Dallas, Texas, Britt Calle and Steven Schmidt of McPherson, George Shutte of Lehigh, and Douglas Sharp of Marion called on me Saturday morning and took me out for dinner at Ramona Café. We discussed matters of the Santa Fe Trail.

Tom and Diann Ensz and family of Keller, Texas, visited from Sunday through Tuesday with Alex and Jean Stuchlik. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Stuchlik and family of Lincolnville, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Stuchlik and family of Pilsen, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns and family and Rita Schawe of Wichita were Sunday afternoon and supper guests.

Mervin and Leona Deines visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Collier of Emporia.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik helped Sunday after Mass at Pilsen Catholic church serve breakfast with the Catholic Slavic Ladies Association. A silent auction was held. Alex and Charlene Svitak played polka music between breakfast and the auction.

Irma Reznicek accompanied Carol Makovec to Shelly Oswald's home Sunday afternoon for a house party.

Irma Benda called me Sunday morning and said they had a lot of hail on their yard. Some hail was the size of golf balls. Selma Ingram told me her granddaughter, Barbie Katz of Lawrence reported her car was totaled because of hail.

My cousin, Jon Pospisil and daughter, Anya of Orlando, Fla., visited Wednesday with me.

Bob and Irma Reznicek attended the breakfast Sunday at St. Nep. Catholic Church at Pilsen.
