Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu hosted a late Halloween party Saturday afternoon and evening. Guests for a hayrack ride were Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxon of Hillsboro, Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Joshua of Windom, Neil and Jolene Albrecht, Kellie and Morgan of Salina, and Fred and Marguerite Utech. They went through Ramona to see the scarecrows. After the ride they had a wiener roast, then the children opened their bags of treats. Jeff and Jennifer and Joshua stayed overnight Saturday and went home Sunday evening.

A Veterans Day program was held Friday morning at Centre Elementary School. The program was given by kindergarten through sixth grade students.

Adele Katz, Barbie Katz of Lawrence, and Charles and Lori Smithhart of Hillsboro had lunch Saturday in Junction City in honor of Lori's birthday.

Douglas Strecker of Hesston spent Saturday with me. He brought large alfalfa bales in from the field, took my air conditioner out of the window, put plastic on some windows, and threw some small alfalfa bales down in the barn for me. I feed the cattle small bales almost every day. He was here for dinner.

Larry Rudolph's visitors Sunday afternoon were his niece, Kim, husband Paul, and baby Alex from Wichita. Kim, Paul, and Alex spent the weekend with her parents, Mike and Karen Walsh and sister, Renee.

Bob and Irma Reznicek attended the memorial mass of Knights of Columbus' deceased members Sunday morning at St. John Nep. Church, Pilsen. They also went to the basement for the potluck dinner served by the Knights of Columbus members.

We should be thankful for the beautiful weather we are having. Ida Benda of Madera, Calif., called me Nov. 8 and told me it was 56 degrees and humidity was 79 percent. She was busy raking leaves in her yard, trimming tree limbs, and taking care of her flowers. She and I talked about our relationship with the Stikas. She learned that my great-grandfather, Frank Stika, was one of the firefighters who fought the big Chicago fire. She also told me she has a picture of the Steiner Band. Her father played in the band.

Carol Makovec visited her mother, Irma Reznicek and brother Bob, Friday evening.

Monty Stuchlik helped the Deines' combine their milo and also combined Larry Rudolph's. The milo is not making what it made last year.

Larry Rudolph visited Mike and Karen Walsh and daughter, Renee Sunday evening.
