Lost Springs: Irma Reznicek honored with barbecue dinner on 85th birthday years ago

All of Irma Reznicek's children held a barbecue dinner Memorial Day at the home of Charles and Mary Loewen in celebration of Irma's 85th birthday. Those attending were John and Helen Reznicek and Ruby Holub, Marion; Bob and Carol Makovec and Bob Reznicek; Randy and Colleen Klug, Nicole and Alison, Ralph and Betty Stroda, and Troy and Robyn Heitfield, Taylor, Madison, and Drake, all of Herington; Jennifer Makovec, Paul Forrester, and Regan Tatum, all of Salina.

Ed Reznicek, Ella and Evan, Goff; Ken Reznicek, Burlington; John and Lori Torline, Jennifer, Megan, Carolyn, and Matthew, Derby; Josie Loewen, Oklahoma City, Okla., Jeremy and Dionne Loewen, Manhattan. Robert and Rita Loewen and Audrey Koehn of Manhattan stopped in the afternoon. Ice cream and cake were served and many gifts opened by Irma.

Alex Stuchlik's band played Sunday for Father Kapaun Day during Communion at St. John Nep. Catholic Church, Pilsen.

The band played Thursday at Legacy Park in Peabody. They served homemade ice cream.

Irma Reznicek accompanied her daughter, Mary Loewen May 26 to Derby where they spent the day with Lori Torline, Jennifer, Megan, Carolyn, and Matthew.

Bill and Dollye Novak left May 27 for Oklahoma City, Okla., where they spent the night with their daughter, Nancy and husband. The next day they left for San Antonio, Texas, to be guests of their son, Bill and family for Memorial Day weekend. Their grandson, David Novak graduated magna cum laud May 28 from high school.

Bob and Irma Reznicek were supper guests May 26 of Charles and Mary Loewen and daughter Josie of Hillsboro.

The Rezniceks attended the wedding Saturday of Jill Vinduska, daughter of Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion and Armando Tarin at St. John Nep. Church at Pilsen. They also attended the dance at Pilsen Community Center that night.

Rita Stuchlik, Wichita, spent the weekend with her parents, Alex and Jean Stuchlik.

Douglas and Sonja Strecker of Hesston and Marsha Jarrell of Peabody visited May 28 with me after they attended my great-grandson, Gabriel Strecker's first birthday party at the home of his parents, Yancy and Julie Strecker of Newton. They came to get the flowers to put on the graves at St. Mary's Cemetery near Tampa and the Marion Cemetery. I was not able to attend the birthday celebration as I had the flu.

Mervin and Leona Deines went to Hope High School alumni banquet and program May 28 at Hope High School. This was the 50th year for Leona's class. They graduated in 1955.

John and Kaye Peterson of Bonner Springs visited May 28 with her sister, Selma Ingram. They came to decorate some graves at Lost Springs Cemetery and attend a Peterson reunion.

Mervin and Leona Deines attended the Ramona alumni program and banquet May 29 at Centre Elementary School. Mervin was president of the alumni this year.

Clark Strecker, Austin and Tailor of Rose Hill visited me May 29 after they decorated graves at Marion Cemetery.

We had seven inches of rain Friday. There were several basements full of water that had to be pumped out. Larry Rudolph said the water was running across the road in front of his place. The letter carrier was not able to deliver mail Friday to several residences in the community.

Bob and Irma Reznicek and Carol Makovec accompanied John and Helen Reznicek Thursday to Derby. They attended Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Later they attended Megan Torline's promotion from eighth grade at St. Mary's grade school gym and the reception that followed.

Oaklan and Tia Jenkins stayed overnight May 28 with grandma, Selma Ingram.

Carol Makovec picked up Irma Reznicek Saturday. They went to a surprise layette shower in honor of Angie Stika at the home of Shelly Fitzmaurice, Lincolnville. They joined other relatives and friends.

Connie Hastings of El Dorado visited Wednesday with her brother, Larry Rudolph. They went to Pilsen to decorate graves.

I received a call from my sister, Lorena Pospisil of Libuse, La., and one from my sister, Victoria Zell of Shelby, Mont. Both said they sent our brother, Emil Pospisil of Wichita a birthday card. Our brother, Emil was 94 years old June 5 and still lives alone. He shops at a store next to his backyard.

Kenneth Reznicek of Burlington visited Tuesday afternoon with Bob and Irma Reznicek.

Mervin Deines attended Memorial Day services at Lewis Cemetery in Ramona while Leona made dinner for the family.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu attended the Ramona alumni banquet May 29 at the Lost Springs gym. The Hanschus attended Memorial Day services at Lewis Cemetery and the community picnic at Ramona.

Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxon, Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Joshua, Neil and Jolene Albrecht, Kallie and Morgan, and Fred and Marguerite Utech visited Memorial Day with Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu. The Bradens were overnight guests.

Junior and Jeanetta attended a birthday party Saturday evening for Gary and Judy Neuschafer at Lindsborg. On Sunday they had lunch in Hillsboro with Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxon. The boys came home with their grandparents. Their mother picked them up later.
