Lost Springs: It was a good weekend for outdoor activities, Father s Day events

Barbie Katz of Lawrence spent Friday night with Charles and Lori Smithhart of Hillsboro. Saturday afternoon they visited Selma Ingram. All then decided to go to Herington Reservoir. Selma picked up her grandson, Steve Katz. Adele Katz who works at Parkside in Hillsboro and Ryan Makovec joined them at the reservoir for supper. Afterward some of them went fishing.

Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Josh of Windom visited Saturday afternoon with Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu. They stayed overnight and went to Trinity Lutheran Church services Sunday morning. After services they ate at Ramona Café. Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxon of Hillsboro and Fred and Marguerite Utech joined them Sunday afternoon at Junior and Jeanetta's home to celebrate Father's Day.

Gary and JoAnn Stuchlik and family of Pilsen visited Alex and Jean Stuchlik and Rita Stuchlik who is visiting her folks for a few days. They celebrated Father's Day Sunday afternoon. Alex got calls from his other children wishing him a happy Father's Day.

Bob Reznicek started combining his wheat Friday. He was surprised when it tested only 13 in moisture.

Michael and Angie Stika of Lincolnville are parents June 14 of a baby boy born at Manhattan hospital. Aaron Matthew weighed 9 pounds 12 ounces. He has a sister, Macayla, eight years old; brother, Alex, six years old; and Miranda, four years old. Grandparents are Glenn and Sandy Carlson of Burdick and Eugene Stika of Lincolnville. Great-grandmother is Irma Reznicek.

Madelyn Saccone of Walpole, Mass., stopped in Wednesday afternoon to visit Irma and Bob Reznicek.

Reign and Marlene Anduss of Ramona picked me up Friday evening. We went to Peabody where we attended a bridal shower for Marsha Jarrell and Douglas Strecker at Peabody United Methodist Church fellowship hall. The hostesses were members of ALPHA club of the United Methodist Church. After serving a snack they had Marsha open the many beautiful and useful gifts. The shower ended serving white cake decorated with red flowers and punch.

Douglas Strecker, Hesston, son of Evelyn Strecker, Lost Springs and Marsha Jarrell of Peabody, daughter of Reign and Marlene Anduss of Ramona will be married at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peabody United Methodist Church.

Tom Reznicek of Lawrence came Friday night to the home of Irma and Bob Reznicek to attend the Palles and Reznicek family reunion Saturday at Marion County Lake hall.

Betty Stenzel, Becky Jackson, Nikki Stenzel, and Mirriam Riddle of Mesquite, Texas, took Gregory Stenzel out for dinner and shopping Father's Day to Junction City.

Leona Deines attended the Bible school program and hamburger fry Sunday night at St. John Lutheran Church, Lincolnville. Leona's grandchildren, Makenzie and Dylan Deines were in the program.

Bob and Irma Reznicek went Thursday evening with Madelyn Saccone and Margaret Kerns of Washington, D.C., and John and Helen Reznicek of Marion to eat supper at Al's Café at Lost Springs. After supper they visited at Irma's home.

Larry Rudolph visited Wednesday evening with me after checking the battery of the electric fence.

Bob and Irma Reznicek attended the Polles and Reznicek family reunion at Marion County Lake hall. They had coffee and rolls in the morning and a potluck meal at noon. Evening meal was prepared by the committee. A short program followed the meal. They talked about oil production of the Reznicek farms and the town of Lost Springs. Irma said they handed out pictures of the oil derricks in the Lost Springs area. They had a good attendance and it was enjoyed by all.

On Father's Day, Paul and Raelene Hajek drove to Salina where they met her father, Max Beynoche of Miltonvale, Melvin and Pam Buxman of Newton, Kim Nicholson and children of Glen Elder for dinner out and a visit.

Raelene Hajek went June 10 to Johnson to help her son, Jason and Carla Hajek move to Hugoton. Raelene took care of their son, Cooper during the move. She left Sunday and drove to Goodland where she visited with her daughter, Lynette and Jon McClean and their three children. She came home Wednesday.

I visited with Shirley Dix Tuesday morning at Herington.

Oaklan Jenkins, a Girl Scout member of Lincolnville attended Girl Scout camp Friday and Saturday at Marion County Lake. Tia Jenkins, a member of Lincolnville Brownies, also attended the camp on Friday.

Emmett and Mimmie Sroufe of Garden Plain visited June 6 with Larry Rudolph.

Kathy Madonna of Abilene visited me Wednesday morning.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu attended the 60th wedding anniversary dinner and open house Sunday for Lauren and Orvell Brunner at Trinity parish hall.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik went Saturday to the wedding of Marie Jirak and Travis Gear at St. John Nep. Catholic Church. They also attended the dinner and dance at Pilsen community hall.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu attended the installation Sunday of the Rev. Brett Huebner at Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro and stayed for the luncheon.

Mervin and Leona Deines visited Friday with Vernon and Bonnie Deines of Wichita.

Jason Stika and Shelly of Lincolnville hosted a birthday party for Dalton's third year. They served a barbecue supper, homemade ice cream, and cake to Bob and Irma Reznicek and other relatives and friends. Dalton was so excited when he opened his gifts.

Jean Stuchlik attended a bridal shower in honor of her daughter, Rita Stuchlik held at the home of Debbie Burns Sunday afternoon in Wichita. Alex Stuchlik visited Marcel and Mary Jane Steiner while Jean was at the shower.

Ted Dorman and Bill Barrett of Herington visited Wednesday afternoon with Larry Rudolph.

Don and Ramona Beisel of Tampa visited Saturday afternoon with their mother, Frances Stuchlik.

Mervin and Leona Deines went to Lauren and Orvell's 60th wedding anniversary dinner and open house Sunday afternoon at Trinity parish hall.

Douglas Strecker of Hesston mowed my lawn Wednesday after he got off work at Hesston. He left for Marion Cemetery to get the flowers before going home.

We have had between 12 and 13 inches of rain since a June 3. Larry Rudolph had hail damage. Hail has stripped some of my flowers and knocked quite a few apricots off the tree. Farmers have been busy fixing fences that washed out. Rabbits are eating my lettuce. I'm glad there is no way I can get to it — too muddy. I'm enjoying the mulberries. I sent some home with my son, Douglas.

Bob and Irma Reznicek joined John and Helen Reznicek of Marion, Bob and Carol Makovec, and Charles and Mary Loewen Sunday after church at Gambino's Pizza in Marion for dinner.

Ruby Scharping of Wichita drove Saturday evening to her mom's, Frances Stuchlik. She stayed overnight. They visited Monty and Sarah Stuchlik Sunday afternoon before Ruby returned home in the evening.

Larry Rudolph attended the Thrivent Financial Services for Lutherans benefit Sunday for Rita Brunner. It was a hamburger fry held at Tampa Senior Center.

My good friend and 1933 Lost Springs High School graduate classmate, Violet Delgado of Ogden, Utah, called me Sunday evening. She said "Would you believe it if I told you when I got up the morning of June 7 there was seven inches of snow everywhere? Since it has melted there is water everywhere." She wanted to know if one of the tornadoes hit my place.

Irma Reznicek told me her sister Rose, who lives east of Dallas, Texas, told her this morning it was dry and they could use some of our rain. I talked to my son, Lowell Strecker of San Antonio, Texas, Sunday afternoon and he too said it was dry.

John and Helen Reznicek of Marion treated Irma Reznicek in celebration of her birthday and Bob to a movie and supper Sunday evening in Newton. Later they did some shopping.

The Turpin Tyme Ragsters, a professional ragtime band from Kansas City, concert was held Sunday at Lost Springs Centre Elementary School.
