Lost Springs: Jenkins celebrates 11th birthday years ago

Larry and Connie Jenkins hosted a birthday party Saturday afternoon for their daughter, Oaklan at the TCO Center at Herington. Oaklan is 11 years old today (Wednesday). Guests were grandma, Selma Ingram, Adele Katz, Charles and Lori Smithhart of Hillsboro, Lizzie Lavery of Herington, sister Tia, and Michael Jenkins and family of Hillsboro. The birthday cake was decorated with bears and hearts. Ice cream also was served.

Ramona Beisel of Tampa picked up her mother, Frances Stuchlik Sunday and drove to Emporia to attend the confirmation of Katie Stuchlik, daughter of Terry and Grace Stuchlik. The confirmation service was given by Archbishop Tim Germann of Kansas City diocese at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Emporia. Mike Stuchlik was the sponsor of his sister, Katie. After the service Terry and Grace had dinner and supper at their home for Katie, Mike, Kelly and Kim Davis, Frances Stuchlik, and Ramona Beisel.

Tom Reznicek of Lawrence spent Saturday with Bob and Irma Reznicek. He helped Bob with chores. Carol Makovec had coffee Saturday morning with her mother, Irma Reznicek and brothers, Bob and Tom.

Mervin Deines said they did not have news. He and his sons, Jeff and Terry were rounding up and loading cattle to take to the livestock sale Wednesday at Herington.

Lowell Strecker of San Antonio, Texas, called me Sunday afternoon. He said they had ice. The highways and roads were closed and the temperature was 20 degrees. He wondered if we had ice. He said the southern half of Oklahoma and all of Texas were covered with ice. Frances Stuchlik told me her son, Mark of Edmund, Okla., had called her and said they had three inches of ice.

Charles Loewen of Hillsboro, Jeremy and Dianne Loewen of Manhattan, and Josie Loewen of Norman, Okla., hosted a birthday party Saturday night for Mary Loewen at Olde Towne Restaurant at Hillsboro. Guests were Robert and Rita Loewen of Hillsboro, John and Helen Reznicek of Marion, Bob and Carol Makovec, John and Lori Torline, Carolyn and Matthew of Derby, Tom Reznicek of Lawrence, and Irma Reznicek and Bob.

Selma Ingram visited Sunday afternoon with Evelyn Strecker. She brought the Girl Scout cookies I bought from Oaklan and Tia Jenkins.

Larry Rudolph visited me Sunday afternoon. He is coming today (Wednesday) to feed my cattle.

Selma Ingram visited Sunday evening with Jane Miller.

Sharyn Mueller of Olathe visited her mother, Frances Hanschu of Ramona and father, Clinton Hanschu of Salina over the weekend.
