Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu and Fred and Marguerite Utech left about three o'clock for Windom where they helped Joshua Braden, son of Jeff and Jennifer Braden celebrate his fourth birthday. Other guests were Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob, Jorge, and Jaxxson of Hillsboro, Neil and Jolene Albrecht, Kalli and Morgan of Salina, Garland and Diane Utech, Lance Utech and daughter of Amsterdam, Mo., Gary and Kathy Braden of Wichita, and neighbors and friends. His birthday cake had a fireman on it. They all went to Windom to look at the fire trucks. Joshua had the joy of sitting on one. At 5:30 p.m. they had supper. Joshua opened his gifts and they ate the fireman cake and ice cream.

Geraldine Noonan of Dallas, Texas, visited with Evelyn Strecker July 26. She showed me her daughter, Kelli's wedding picture. Geraldine was my flower girl when I was married.

Dollye Novak became ill July 25. She was taken to St. Luke Hospital by ambulance. She is at home and feeling a little better.

Larry Rudolph attended the Charles and Darlene Gutsch sale July 29 near Burdick.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu went to the William Utech family reunion July 29 at Trinity Lutheran parish hall, Ramona. There were 40-50 relatives in attendance. They had a potluck dinner and pictures were taken.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik drove July 29 to Wilson and joined the large crowd enjoying the annual Czech festival. Lots of Czech music and kolaches.

Micky Black, Lance and Rocky visited Larry Rudolph July 29.

Laura and I ate supper at Al's Café Friday evening. While there we visited with Dr. Bob and Hallie Novak. Hallie told me that she and Doc spent almost three weeks in the Czech Republic in June. They had lots of fun checking on Novak genealogy.

Frances Stuchlik and Ruby Scharping of Wichita accompanied Jeff and Julie Scharping and children of Wichita to Wilson to attend the Czech Festival. They attended the Polka Mass at St. Wenseslaus Catholic Church. After Mass they ate a chicken dinner and attended the polka dance at the church hall. They stayed overnight in Wilson. Jeff rented a pontoon boat Sunday morning at Wilson Lake. Ruby, Julie, and children went tubing while Jeff manned the boat and grandma, Frances Stuchlik, satin the boat praying.

Ruby and Frances left the Jeff Scharping family at Wilson Lake Sunday afternoon and they went to Lucas to see the Garden of Eden. That night when Frances got home, her son Monty came over to see how she survived.

It is so dry some farmers started to feed their cattle and some are selling some of their cattle. Laura and I have been feeding a small bale or two to my cattle. I see horseflies and wasps around my stock water tank.

I talked to Ronnie Hajek. He told me his wife Leona served on the election board at Lincolnville. Turn-out was about 20 percent. It was really hot Tuesday — 110 degrees. That probably kept some of the voters from voting.
