Lost Springs: Nikki Stenzel takes first at forensics meet

Gregory Stenzel and daughter Nikki went Saturday to Salina where Nikki participated in state forensics. Nikki took first place in reading. Congratulations Nikki. Gregory and Judy Gratz visited Wednesday with Betty Stenzel.

Jeanetta Hanschu baby-sat Friday for Neil and Jolene Albrecht's daughters, Kallie and Morgan. Kallie went home with Grandma in the afternoon. That evening Junior and Jeanetta and Kallie went to Woodbine to attend the KVK Incorporated annual hog roast at 4 p.m. Jeanetta's folks, Fred and Marguerite Utech also went.

Larry Rudolph was a Sunday evening guest of the Gilbert Smiths.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik went Sunday to Nicholas Stuchlik's first communion at St. John Nep. Catholic Church at Pilsen. Nicholas is the son of Gary and JoAnn Stuchlik who served dinner at their home for guests after the communion.

I was so surprised to see an airplane fly over my yard Monday afternoon. It flew so low it just missed the top of the trees and the barn. I felt I almost could touch it. Who was it?

Jayson and Jan Hanschu of Hillsboro hosted a birthday supper and party Saturday in honor of their sons, Jakob, nine years old, and Jaxxon, two years old. Games were played and supper was served. Afterward gifts were opened and birthday cakes and ice cream were served. Guests attending included Fred and Marguerite Utech, Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu, Jeff and Jennifer Braden and Joshua of Windom, Neil and Jolene Albrecht, Kallie and Morgan of Salina, Joe and Joann Nowak of Pilsen, brother Jorge Hanschu, and friends and neighbors.

Don and Ramona Beisel of Tampa visited Saturday with her mother, Frances Stuchlik.

Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu attended the FFA banquet Tuesday at Centre High School.

Frances Stuchlik's Sunday guests were Tom and Carol Stuchlik and Brandon of Berryton, Dave and Sonya Tice, Hannah and Haley of Wichita, Megan and Ross Stuchlik of Tampa, and Monty and Sarah Stuchlik.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik drove to McPherson Sunday to take in the Polka Club sponsor dance at the VFW. An orchestra from Fremont, Neb., played for the dance.

Betty Stenzel's April 21 through 23 guest was Joyce Anderson White of Indianapolis, Ind. They enjoyed meals out Friday and Saturday in Herington and Tampa. Joyce attended the George Brunner family reunion Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church parish hall at Ramona.

My peonies, irises, and purple wild flowers are in bloom. We had so much rain I have a pond in the middle of my yard. Frances Stuchlik said the wind Monday night broke a large limb off a tree in her yard. I remember when I was a young girl saying "Rain, rain go away. Come back some other day."

Selma Ingram visited Tuesday afternoon with Jane Miller.

Irma and Bob Reznicek visited Friday evening with Larry and Marsha Bina. Irma and Bob attended the first communion of Alison and Nicole Klug, daughters of Randy and Colleen Klug of Herington Sunday at St. John Catholic Church, Herington. They also attended a reception at the church hall for communicants, relatives, and friends. Later they joined other relatives and friends for a potluck dinner at the Klug home. The twin girls opened their gifts and a cake was served.
