Sept. 19-25

Raelene Hajek drove to Goodland Sept. 13 to visit John and Lynette McLean and children. Raelene took care of daughter Josie who had eye surgery while Mom and Dad were teaching and the other two children were in school. She returned home Sept. 15. Raelene went to Miltonvale Sept. 17 to take care of her dad, Max Begnoche, who had knee surgery. She came home Wednesday. Raelene's niece, Jordan Nicholson of Glen Elder, visited with the Hajeks from Friday to Sunday.

Larry Rudolph, John Christner and son Simon, and Jay Mall of Abilene visited Wednesday with me.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik attended the Jesse Smith and Ashton Kerbs dance Saturday night at Pilsen Community Center. A DJ played for half the dance and Alex's band played for half. On Tuesday they visited Chris and Melissa Stuchlik and family to celebrate Quinton's sixth birthday. Other guests were Gary and JoAnn Stuchlik and family of Pilsen, Walter and Iona Dietrich and Larry and Eunice Steiner of Tampa, and Thomas Clegg and girlfriend of Salina.

Irma Benda of rural Marion was in charge of the bingo game Friday afternoon at St. Luke Living Center.

Carol Makovec visited her mother, Irma Reznicek Saturday morning.

When I called Irma for news, she said she was canning pears. About three weeks ago I canned 11 quarts of pears. All I have left to take care of is tomatoes and sweet potatoes in the garden and lots of black walnuts. I have not seen any squirrels.

Eva Miller spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the hospital at Salina.

I received a letter from my sister, Victoria Zell of Shelby, Mont. She said they had their first frost in August. She had a lot of apples so she left apples on the doorsteps of her neighbors. Her garden is covered for the winter.

Selma Ingram's granddaughters, Oaklon and Tia stayed Saturday night with her. Several weeks ago Selma's granddaughter, Tia who is six years old, asked "What kind of tree is that in your backyard?"

Selma answered, "That is my money tree." Since then every time she is at Grandma's house, Tia runs out to see if there is money on the tree.

Junior Hanschu visited Monday morning with me.

Ramona and Don Beisel of Tampa visited Saturday with their mother, Frances Stuchlik. Frances' visitors Sunday were Ruby Scharping of Wichita and grandson, Matthew Stuchlik who lives in Manhattan while attending Kansas State University.

Father Dick of Wichita brought his mom, Frances Stuchlik, fried chicken, watermelon, and potato salad Tuesday.

Sarah Stuchlik and sister Pattie Wasle, Mike and Candee Tade of Wichita, and Tanner Stuchlik of Tampa visited Saturday with Frances Stuchlik.

The Alex and Susie Hanschu annual family reunion and dinner was held Sunday at the home of Junior and Jeanetta Hanschu.
